Electronic boards

PCB & electronic circuit board recycling

Electronic boards form a flow of their own within professional WEEE. Removed from equipment during dismantling, they are sorted separately, classified by family and packaged before being directed to the appropriate recovery channels. SFDE handles this flow for companies, industrial groups and technical operators.

Families

Types of electronic boards handled

Boards are classified according to the equipment they come from, since their architecture, format and assembly differ from one field to another.

Server and IT boards

Motherboards, daughterboards, storage controllers, expansion cards and power boards from servers, workstations and racks.

Telecom and network boards

Boards from operator equipment, network infrastructure, radio transmission and professional telephony.

Avionics and aerospace boards

Flight computer boards, embedded systems and certified electronics at end of use, processed within a controlled framework.

Medical boards

Boards from medical imaging, patient monitoring and connected devices withdrawn from service.

Automotive and mobility boards

ECUs, on-board electronics, driver assistance systems and multimedia modules at end of life.

Broadcast and industrial boards

Boards from control rooms, broadcast hardware, professional decoders and industrial electronic equipment.

Process

From equipment to sorted board batches

Reception and check

Collected equipment is received, weighed and recorded before any operation.

Dismantling

Equipment is opened and dismantled in order to isolate electronic sub-assemblies.

Board separation

Boards are removed from chassis and separated from cables, metal structures and non-electronic parts.

Classification by family

Boards are grouped by originating family in order to build homogeneous batches.

Packaging

Each batch is packaged, identified and weighed ahead of shipping.

Routing to recovery channels

Batches are routed to the recovery channels matching their nature.

Boards from servers, storage arrays or workstations often arrive with their media: these are removed and handled upstream through data erasure or destruction. Still-functional equipment is kept out of dismantling and routed to a second life as reused IT hardware.

Sorting quality

Why sorting by family matters

A homogeneous batch is easier to read for the channel receiving it: it allows consistent processing decisions and material preparation suited to the type of boards.

Classification by family also supports traceability, each batch remaining attached to an identified flow from pickup to shipping.

Conversely, mixing families reduces batch readability and requires re-sorting ahead of processing.

Materials

Electronic boards and metals

Electronic boards combine an insulating substrate with conductive elements. Depending on their type they may contain copper, tin, nickel as well as precious metals used in contacts and components.

These materials are not extracted on site: material recovery is handled by specialised channels, to which the batches prepared by SFDE are routed. Dismantling, sorting and packaging determine the quality of that stage.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept boards on their own, without the equipment?

Yes. Batches of already dismantled boards are accepted, just like complete equipment from which we will extract the boards.

Do board families need to be separated before pickup?

It is not mandatory. A batch already separated by family speeds up processing, but we carry out classification on reception when boards arrive mixed.

How should boards be packaged?

Boards are generally grouped in closed containers suited to their volume and handling. Exact arrangements are defined with you before the pickup.

What traceability applies to this flow?

The flow follows the same documentary circuit as other professional WEEE: recording on reception, weighing and a digital tracking slip.

Can boards lead to a financial recovery?

It depends on the nature of the boards, batch homogeneity and volume. No public price list applies: each flow is assessed case by case after description or reception.

Do you have a flow of electronic boards to hand over?

Describe your flow, its families and its volume: we will get back to you with pickup and processing arrangements.
