Birth of SFDE

SFDE — Société Française de Déchets Électroniques — was born in 2025 from the experience developed since 2012 under the SABAK'S name. More than a decade of activity dedicated to the collection, sorting and recovery of electronic equipment and materials.

Based in France, SFDE designs, operates and guarantees a complete recovery chain for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and metals. From secure collection to the reintegration of materials into industry, every step is carried out in-house, on an ICPE-authorised site, by trained and supervised teams.

SFDE's ability to control the entire chain, from collection to recovery, is what sets us apart. It allows us to ensure full traceability, protect the data we handle and take comprehensive care of every flow. Large corporations, mid-caps, public authorities and industrial operators — defense, telecoms, healthcare, energy, aerospace — rely on us for services where regulatory rigor and reliability go hand in hand.

Our conviction is simple: the end of a device's life is not a burden to dispose of, but a strategic resource to reveal. This conviction guides every decision we make — investments, hires, protocols — and makes SFDE a demanding, measurable and lasting industrial partner.

2012

Birth of SABAK'S

Creation of SABAK'S and start of the activity around the collection, sorting and recovery of electronic equipment and materials.

2015

Business development

The company gradually develops its expertise in the management of IT equipment, electronic components and the various flows arising from WEEE.

2018

WEEE specialization

The activity refocuses more strongly on waste electrical and electronic equipment, with the development of sorting, dismantling and component recovery.

2020

Reuse takes center stage

Equipment still in working order is increasingly identified, tested and routed towards reuse in order to extend its lifespan before any recycling.

2022

Broader expertise

The activity evolves towards comprehensive management of electronic equipment: collection, sorting, reuse, dismantling, material recovery and storage media management.

2025

Birth of SFDE

Creation of the Société Française de Déchets Électroniques — SFDE — continuing the know-how and experience developed since 2012. A new identity and organization to support the development of the activity.

2026

A new development phase

SFDE strengthens its collection, sorting, reuse and recovery capacities, while developing new partnerships in France and internationally.

Today

One vision for more than a decade

Make electronic equipment a resource before it becomes waste. SFDE today pursues a simple ambition: prioritize reuse whenever possible and ensure responsible recovery when recycling becomes necessary.

Four principles,
backed by hard evidence.

Each of our principles translates into written protocols, measured indicators and documents handed to the client — that's what sets an industrial commitment apart from a marketing promise.

Principle 01

Traceability

Every flow entrusted to SFDE is tracked, weighed and documented from intake to the final recovery step. No device leaves our perimeter without being attached to a named, auditable and archived file.

  • Digital Waste Tracking Slips (BSD) via Trackdéchets
  • Serial number recorded for every sensitive piece of equipment
  • Consolidated reporting: tonnage, downstream channel, recovery rate, CO₂ avoided
  • Structured data ready for CSRD, ESRS E5 and Scope 3 carbon reporting
  • Auditor access on request, data retained for 5 years

Principle 02

Data security

Today, data is as sensitive as the device carrying it. SFDE applies a strict erasure and destruction protocol, framed by European regulation and written internal procedures — from site access control to the named attestation handed to the client.

  • Secure software erasure with Blancco and Active@ KillDisk
  • Verified multi-pass erasure for magnetic media
  • Secure physical destruction of SSDs and non-reusable media
  • Access-controlled site with a dedicated data-handling area
  • Named erasure attestation per serial number, archived for 5 years
  • GDPR compliance: processing register, designated data contact, controlled subcontracting

Principle 03

Environmental commitment

The most effective environmental action is the one you don't have to take twice. SFDE systematically prioritizes reuse, then material recovery, and only resorts to disposal as a last option, in line with the European waste hierarchy.

  • Structured environmental approach, steered by indicators
  • Avoided-emissions assessment calculated and shared every year
  • Reintegration of metals (copper, aluminum, steel, precious metals) into French supply chains
  • Documented avoidance of mining extraction and CO₂ emissions
  • Zero landfill for recoverable flows, residual waste under 5%
  • Measurable contribution to ESRS E5 targets (resources and circular economy)

Principle 04

French-made quality

SFDE operates from an industrial site in France, with its own in-house trained teams. This vertical integration is the condition for consistent quality and clear legal accountability to our clients.

  • Written procedures, controls at every step, continuous improvement
  • Team safety framed by internal procedures and training
  • ICPE-authorised site, operated under DREAL supervision
  • Documented processing methods for every equipment family
  • Professional liability insurance tailored to WEEE flows
  • No hidden subcontracting: the chain stays under SFDE control
